May B. (to the left), and Martin T. (to the right) had pleasant and fascination trip to Grand Canaria during the period above. Martin celebrated his 60th birthday on March 20th, 2004.

Weather on Grand Canary is given by the Spanish Weather Bureau (Intituto d'Astrofíscia d'Canarias).

The pictures below are thumbnails, meaning they are small copies of the real thing. You just click on the thumbnails, and you get the full picture in a separate window. And depending on your browser, it may be a little smaller to fit your screen size. Just click the enlargement button to see the full picture. It looks like this.

To the left have a look at how the Canary Islands are situated in relation to Africa.

To the right,, thumbnails show a detailed map of Grand Canary.

And a more detailed one depicting the exact location of Playa Feliz.

A view of Bahía Feliz from the air, with the river mouth in the background.

where we stayed.

An aerial photo of Bahía Feliz. We stayed at the centre, more or less.

DEPARTURE FROM NORWAY
To the left, waiting to depart, view from the living room. Still plenty snow.

To the right, May carefully waiting for the limosine to be driven out from the garage.

The limosine is coming out.

Two happy people on their way to Grand Canary.

Waiting for departure. And did we wait! Departure time was 1700 hours and we took off at 2145 due to weather.

While waiting, due to weather, it started to snow. After an hour, it look like the picture to the right.

Then the snowplows climed in and kept the runway free of snow. After some two hours, we had some 15 cm of snow.

Then we finally could board, some four hours late, and due to snow on the runway, we were stuck for another hour in the plane, waiting for the plows to clear the runway.

The next day, Sunday at 0445 hours local time, we arrived at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
